The short version

Who we are

Kelvin is a weather app for Android and iOS made by Offbeat Applications ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses and why.

Location

If you grant location permission, Kelvin reads your device's approximate or precise location. Your device sends those coordinates directly to the weather services listed below, only to get forecasts, radar and alerts for your area. We never receive your location.

Location permission is optional. You can deny it and search for places by name instead. You can change the permission at any time in your device settings.

Third-party services

Kelvin gets its data from these providers. Each request includes only what's needed to answer it.

Like any web request, these services can see your IP address. Their own privacy policies govern how they handle it.

Data stored on your device

Your saved places, settings (such as units and theme) and Kelvin+ subscription status are stored only on your device. Home screen widgets read the same local data. All of it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Kelvin+ subscriptions

Kelvin+ is an optional subscription. Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their own terms and privacy policies. We never see your payment details. To cancel, manage your subscription in Google Play or your Apple ID settings.

Notifications

If you turn on weather alerts, Kelvin checks for warnings in the background using the same weather services and shows them as notifications. No data is sent to us.

Children

Kelvin is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

Because we don't hold personal data on any server, there's nothing for us to export or delete.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
